SAN Administrator
Description
One of our clients in Albany, NY is in need of a SAN Administrator to assist the technical support staff in monitoring and maintaining existing Storage Area Network (SAN) consisting of IBM DS8300, XIV, SVC, DS4700, FastT and IBM/Brocade equipment. This SAN supports mission-critical applications running on IBM P-Series, Sun Solaris, Linux and Windows servers.
The SAN spans two physical locations in the Albany area, so periodic travel between sites is required. In addition, due to the critical nature of these services, the candidate will be required to assist the technical staff in 24/7 on-call coverage for production problem resolution.
This is a contract position for 12+ months.
REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory Requirements:
Minimum eight (8) years experience in administering and supporting IT systems.
Minimum four (4) years experience in installing, configuring, performance tuning and troubleshooting Fiber Channel Storage Area Networks including IBM/Brocade SAN Directors and switches.
Minimum two (2) years experience implementing, administering and supporting IBM DS8300, DS4700 and XIV storage systems.
Associated skills:
One (1) or more of the following certifications: (Copy of Certification(s) Required)
- IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert - System Storage
- IBM Certified Specialist - XIV Storage System Technical Solutions
- IBM Certified Specialist - Open Systems Storage Solutions
- IBM Certified Specialist - High-End Disk for Open Systems
- IBM Certified Specialist - Storage Networking Solutions
Experience with SLES version 10 or higher configuration and administration.
Experience with RHEL version 4 or higher configuration and administration
Experience with VMWARE ESX version 3.5 or higher configuration and administration
Experience with AIX version 5 or higher configuration and administration
Experience with Windows Server 2003 or higher configuration and administration.
Experience with EMC Networker backup products.
Experience with StorageTek or IBM LTO4 tape drives.
